Roads, bridge-decks, Landscape Areas, Parks, Trails, Parking Lot, Driveway, Walkway, Patio
Environmentally & User Friendly
NC-3000 is safe enough to use on plants as well as agricultural vegetation and is non-corrosive to all common metals. The unique features and benefits of NC-3000 make it an ideal alternative to traditional deicers.
NC-3000 is composed primarily of materials derived from the processing of starches and sugars, making it economical and readily available. It is biobased, non-toxic, biodegradable and non-hazardous to plant and animal life. Unlike conventional de-icers, NC-3000 does not contain any harmful and corrosive chloride salts.
NC-3000 may be used both as a de-icing agent to melt ice deposits and aid in their removal, and as an anti-icing agent to prevent the frozen precipitation from accumulating and bonding on roadway or walkway surfaces. Timely application of NC-3000 eliminates or substantially reduces the formation of “black ice” and prevents the formation of packed snow.

APPLICATION
NC-3000 is supplied in a ready-to-use liquid form, making its application by spray trucks (or any conventional spaying device) convenient and easy. Suggested rates of application are as follows:
Anti-Icing: The most efficient use of NC-3000 is pre-treatment application. Apply prior to the start of an icing event at the rate of 15-25 gallons per lane mile (35-60 Litres/Kilometer). Driveway, walkways, patios, etc. apply at the rate of 1 gallon per 2000 - 3000 sq. ft.
Deicing: NC-3000 is an effective de-icer which penetrates to the pavement surface to break the bond of ice and snow. While the amount of fluid required depends on outside temperature and the thickness of the ice film, an application rate of 25-50 gallons per lane mile (60-120 Liters/Kilometer) is recommended, depending on the roadway conditions. Driveway, walkways, patios, etc. apply at the rate of 1 gallon per 500 - 1500 sq. ft.
PERFORMANCE DATA
In order to be truly effective, an anti-icing/de-icing fluid must not only exhibit low freezing point, but it must also have the capacity to absorb large amounts of water from melting ice and continue to function at high dilution. NC-3000 provides both of these important attributes, having a freezing point of -36F (-38C) and a high dilution capacity.

The Pacific Northwest Snowfighters (PNS) coalition has adopted a test based on a modified version of NACE TM-01-69 to measure and rank de-icing chemicals in terms of relative corrosion toward ferrous metals. In this test, distilled water and salt are assigned relative corrosion rates of 0 and 100 respectively and de-icing chemicals are ranked according to these two standards. To be considered for use in the PNS states, a de-icer must score 30 or less (70% less corrosive than salt) on this scale. In this test NC-3000 was found to be less corrosive than distilled water.

Friction / Traction Performance Properties
Based upon testing performed by Forensic Dynamics, Inc. at the request of the PNS, NC-3000 displayed superior friction properties. The testing performed investigated the effects of temperature, moisture and time upon the friction coefficient of concrete. The following graph illustrates the friction properties of NC-3000 and water on a dry concrete surface:
NC-3000 also passes the purity requirements as set by the PNS

“We had great success with the product, not only as an anti-icer, but when using it as a de-icer as well. In some of our applications, the product was on the road surface for 3 or 4 days prior to the event, achieving the same results as when applied the same day as the freeze”.
